Make Paper Gems for Valentine's Day - Tips for Success

Do you remember the tv show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? In all honesty, for years I'd steered clear of making these paper gems created by author/blogger Kate Lilley of the wonderful site Mini-Eco, thinking they would be difficult. But perhaps last month's origami ornaments bolstered my confidence or maybe it was because I noticed an 11 year old had commented on Kate's post that he found them easy. Yes, that was it... if a 5th grader could make them, so could I!

Cut Paper Relief - Joey Bates

There are many styles of paper cutting; I find all of them quite beautiful and admire those who wield a craft knife with apparent ease (after much practice, of course). Joey Bates of Seattle brings another variety to the mix through his use of  a cut paper relief technique.

Anthropologie Flagship Store - 2015 Holiday Displays and Windows

I've posted several times in the past about Anthropologie's hand crafted decor that varies from store to store - it never disappoints. The metallic trend was definitely taken into consideration when planning 2015's holiday display at the Philadephia flagship location. I visited the weekend after Christmas and delighted in seeing the dramatic arrangement of shining folded stars and snowflakes suspended in the circular stairwell.

New Quilled Wedding Invitation, Gmund Wood Grain Paper, Blossom and Shine Paper Bead Necklace, and L Phillips Design Co Marbled Clay Dish

In August I blogged about the paper-y aspects of my oldest son's wedding. After the post went live, friends asked, "But what did you quill for them?" "Ermm, I didn't," I had to admit. I wasn't sure they are all that fond of quilling, and let's face it, a marriage certificate is a statement piece that needs dedicated wall space on which to hang. And so I began thinking of quilling a mat for their invitation as a Christmas gift. Once I was pretty sure they hadn't already received a framed version, I planned the design for their Monica O invitation.
