Valentine's Day Quilled Card Tutorial

Last week I showed how to make a Hearts Askew quilled necklace and now here is another asymmetric heart. I have no idea where this sudden attraction to wonkiness is coming from, but let's just call this design Free Spirit. Sometimes love can take an indirect path, you know?

Layered Paper Cuttings by Naho Katayama

While scrolling through my Instagram feed first thing Saturday morning, this intriguing suitcase by Naho Katayama of Fukuoka, Japan stopped me in my tracks. So lovely! Because dimension is not something we often see in paper cutting, I clicked over to her website to learn more.

Quilled Heart Necklace Tutorial

With Valentine's Day on the horizon, I had fun designing a necklace that could be a gift for yourself or someone you love. Granted, heart jewelry is most often geared to little girls, but perhaps black and silver paper shaped into an asymmetric heart looks somewhat sophisticated. I like to think so anyway... humor me?

PaperTrophy Animals by Holger Hoffmann

If you're in need of a project to speed up dull winter days, I have just the ticket... an Indiegogo campaign for creating your own sturdy paper trophy animals was launched recently by Holger Hoffmann of Germany. The standing or wall art figures feature a minimalistic cubic design and a range of sizes... from a small downloadable penguin to a life-size gorilla that will ship as a flat-pack.

Cut Paper Decor at Longwood Gardens

I'm taking one last look at the holidays by sharing pictures of beautiful cut paper decorations by Malinda Swain that graced Longwood Gardens in nearby Kennett Square, Pennsylvania during A Longwood Christmas 2014.

Folded Paper Necklaces DIY

It's been years  - years! - since I bookmarked a How About Orange post in which Jessica Jones wrote about making an origami-style necklace. (Show of hands... how many of you still miss that blog as much as I do?) I finally acted on a promise to myself and made several as Christmas gifts for friends and family. Because the design uses such a small amount of paper - each fan is folded from a 1.5 inch (3.8 cm) square - it's a nice way to use up remnants of favorite sheets.

Quilled Bird Cage and More - Licia Politis

You might remember my Australian pal Licia Politis who I met in a Yahoo paper group years ago - we've become fast friends and stay in pretty close touch. Maybe someday we'll actually meet in real life - I hope so!

Licia never fails to amaze me by creating at least one ambitious quilling project each year. Usually it's something she magically completes at the very last minute before the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show competition - and then winds up winning awards!

Cut Paper Holiday Decor at the White House

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays and that 2015 is off to a good start for you and yours. A break from posting gave me the chance to work leisurely on a quilled certificate while listening to Serial. I also got on board with Instagram, something I've been meaning to do for ages, hallelujah!
