LeeMo Origami Earrings
It's been a little while since I last featured paper jewelry, so I was delighted when the link to these playful earrings crossed my path.
Leela Morimoto of Etsy shop LeeMo is the creator. She lives in Osaka, was raised in Japan and Hawaii, and recently graduated from college in Oregon where she studied product design and interior design. Leela told me she has always been enamored with paper and color, and finds origami to be a form of relaxation. Judging by all the tricky angles and folds in these colorful earrings, my origami-challenged brain finds that pretty amazing!
These half-inch dimensional earrings look so cool and summery. They're folded around sterling posts and are a mix of a solid color Japanese paper and patterned washi. Leela coats all of her origami earrings with a sealant, but doesn't recommend taking them for a swim.
These complex diamonds are each composed of four pieces of folded paper and swing on delicate sterling silver chains.
Leela also designs bamboo and acrylic lasercut earrings, and will be adding necklaces and such to the shop soon. Along with Etsy shop LeeMo, she has a website [2022 edit: which is where you will find her origami earrings for sale] and is on Facebook.
Brilliant colours and so neatly folded. Love her laser cut earrings too.
