Paper Goods for a Rustic, Yet Elegant Wedding

Brace yourself... image-heavy feature ahead! I'm talking weddings today... specifically my oldest son's that took place a few weeks ago in the mountains of upstate New York. Because quite a few paper elements were involved in the occasion, I thought it would be fun to bring them together in one post.

floral wedding invitation in autumn colors

Let's start at the very beginning... the invitations were designed by a friend of the bride, Philadelphia artist and graphic designer Monica O, and set the tone for a rustic, yet elegant farm wedding. She even included a tiny silhouette of their dog on the back of the invitation.

LCI Paper Environment card stock by Neenah in Moonrock, a soft white, was chosen for all of the wedding printables... ceremony programs, signs, table numbers, escort cards/favor tags and dinner menus.

Environment is a 30% recycled card stock with subtle flecks and fibers sprinkled throughout. The 80lb. cover weight was perfect for their needs and printed beautifully. This LCI Paper video was helpful in selecting the right paper weight.

Down the Wedding Aisle

Aforementioned pup, Otto, was part of the wedding procession and trotted down the aisle like a champ. He was dressed for the occasion in a pale green origami bow tie made by Justina Yang of Etsy shop Fiber Lab...

...and sat patiently throughout the ceremony except when he disappeared for a few minutes causing concern [read that as panic... city dog/usually on a leash] among those of us who noticed his absence. Not to worry, Otto circled back after following his nose to the hors d'oeuvres.

Otto wasn't the only one to wear an origami accessory - so did the groom and the other gents in the wedding party.

Origami Leaf Boutonnieres - NANA ZOOLAN

Anna and Bryan of Etsy shop NANA ZOOLAN created a set of folded leaf boutonnieres, each in a different shade of green.

...and doubled perfectly as favor tags that were tied onto jars of small batch craft pickles, a favorite of the couple.

Wedding Favor and Menu Card

Monica O designed floral graphics for the menu cards and ceremony programs, reminiscent of those on the invitations, that complemented the black and white jar labels.

Wedding Guest Book Dictionary

Instead of a traditional guest book, the couple chose an old dictionary for guests to sign with their choice of circled words and personal notes.

One last bit of paper fashion...

Paper Maché Floral Necklace by Eco Wedding Design

Alessandra Fabre Repetto of Eco Wedding Design made a paper maché necklace for me to wear to the rehearsal dinner. The light as air flowers matched my tropical print dress perfectly. You might remember Alessandra from this feature.
