Wild and Wonderful Letterpress Paper Jewelry

I love it when a scroll through social media shows me something totally unique... such was the case when boldly patterned letterpress earrings from Monday Morning Press roared into my consciousness. A quick zip over to the Instagram feed cemented the idea that I must feature Natalie Monday and her beautiful paper art!

Natalie, who has a degree in Architecture and worked in a design firm before opening a letterpress shop, grew up in Virginia where she and her father enjoyed taking art lessons together. While she and her fiance were planning their wedding, Natalie became enamored with letterpress and designed the invitations. This led to taking classes, acquiring a 1903 Chandler & Price press, and the launch of a home-based business that allows her to stay close to her young family.

Creating letterpress sheets to be used specifically for earrings is a new venture. Up until now, Natalie has been designing and pressing modern monogrammed stationery, funny greeting cards, custom wedding invitation suites, and business cards... she still does all of these things and has added stylish wearables to the mix.

If you google letterpress jewelry, what you'll find are necklace pendants composed of metal or wood letters used for setting type on antique presses. That's a neat idea too of course, but for fashionistas with a yen to wear striking, yet lightweight earrings, Natalie's designs are just the ticket.

They have the added cachet of being made of a truly unique material. Geo shapes are cut from luxe paper with deeply pressed patterns in rich colors and treated to resist moisture. The shiny metal hooks are nickel-free.

I have such admiration for Natalie's marketing skills... she builds excitement for each new collection via sneak-peek Instagram posts that culminate in a Thursday evening pop-up shop on Stories when the latest pairs make their debut one by one.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed the post, Anon. Natalie is still making beautiful paper jewelry with a new collection each month. Luxe paper refers to the kind that is used for letterpress printing which is generally cotton rag.
