Four Christmas Quilling Tutorials from Tambella Arts

Do you enjoy making Christmas decorations and you'd like to learn to quill? Carrie Birch of Tambella Arts is ready to teach you, and in the process you'll make four different tree ornaments!

Each one of her new printable patterns and templates is accompanied by a private online video that takes you step by step through the process of creating a simple quilled ornament.

The little Snowman, Wreath, Santa, and 2021 Bauble would make great gifts... surprise the recipient by attaching one to a present instead of a bow, or pin it to a card so that it can easily be detached and hung on their tree.

Carrie describes the projects this way: "They use a combination of simple quilling techniques and some on-edge paper techniques. The Santa and Snowman require some tracing and cutting of paper to create background shapes to work on. They’re fast projects that take between 30 - 45 minutes to create depending on the design."

Carrie has made a separate video for each ornament. Having had a sneak peek at them, as well as at the downloadable patterns and templates, I can verify that she shows exactly what you'll need to do in a very pleasant and relaxing manner.

Carrie often uses American Crafts card stock for her projects as it has a nicely textured surface on one side and is sturdy enough for on-edge designs. This is the Brights Pack that includes vivid red and green. There is also a Christmas Pack that contains cool winter colors... very pretty according to reviews, but not what you might think of as traditional Christmas red and green.

Her lovely, minimalistic quilling style first caught my eye several years ago and led me to feature her art in this post. I'm crazy about the colorful quilled cockatoos and flowers that are inspired by her Queensland, Australia locale.

One busy creative, Carrie welcomes requests for custom quilled designs and also sells art prints, printed greeting cards, and patterns along with hosting workshops and running Etsy and Red Bubble shops, never mind maintaining her own Tambella Arts website and online store. Somehow she even finds time to post on Instagram and Facebook, and she blogs - whew!
